4 Citrus Vodka Drinks Perfect for Springtime

Spring is a season full of promises: the promise of warmer weather, blooming landscapes, and, for many of us, a return to the outdoors. And after a long, cold winter, many of us are looking for delicious springtime cocktails to sip in the sunshine.

Maybe you’re looking for a cool and refreshing way to unwind with friends this spring, or maybe you just need a go-to cocktail to kick back with after all your spring cleaning. Whatever your needs, these chilled takes on citrus drinks using vodka ice pops will help you kick the season off right.

Line of citrus vodka cocktails

#1 Tipsy Frozen Lemonade

The Tipsy Frozen Lemonade cocktail is kicking off our list of springtime citrus vodka drinks. Why? Because when the snow melts and the sky clears, neighborhoods everywhere fill up with the quintessential childhood spring pastime—lemonade stands. This recipe for Tipsy Frozen Lemonade is springtime nostalgia in a cocktail glass (with a little vodka mixed in). The bright, refreshing taste of citrus juice paired with a little sweetness makes for a delectable treat as we shed our winter coats and spend more and more time on rooftop decks and patios.

Good news? This simple and satisfying lemon vodka cocktail is as easy to make as it is to sip.

The first step is to gather your ingredients:1

Put the frozen cocktail pops into a chilled cocktail glass and crush them. Then, add the vodka, muddling it with the alcohol ice pops until well mixed. Pour in the lemonade, give it a good stir, garnish it with a lemon wheel and a retro red-and-white striped paper straw, and you’re ready to sip.

Tips for Mixing It Up

One of the beautiful things about lemonade and vodka is their versatility—they make the perfect complement to almost any flavor.

To add a little flair to the boozy frozen lemonade cocktail, consider using SLIQ’s Spirited Ice vodka frozen cocktail pops in either Blue Raspberry or Cranberry & Grapefruit flavor.

While you’ve got the lemonade out, you might as well grab some iced tea as well. Voila—you’re officially halfway to making the Boozy Frozen “Half and Half”. This drink is a delicious way to elevate lemon vodka drinks and capture the magic of spring in a glass.

To make the Boozy Frozen “Half and Half”, grab the following ingredients:2

Mix together your vodka and your SLIQ Spirited Ice frozen cocktail pops. Then, add the lemonade and the iced tea, stirring together. As a garnish, use a classic lemon wheel and add a mint spring for an extra touch of spring.

#3 Frozen Sex On The Beach

In the 1980s, Florida bartender Ted Pizio invented the Sex On The Beach cocktail as an ode to the state’s infamous spring break shenanigans, and an icon was born.3 Ever since, this citrusy drink has been a staple of springtime cocktail menus and Valentine cocktail recipe lists. This frozen twist only ups the appeal in the warmer months.

Here’s what you’ll need:4

In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka with one or two SLIQ Spirited Ice Vodka Cranberry & Grapefruit pops. Use a muddler to mix them together. Add Peach Schnapps, orange juice, and cranberry juice, then shake until well combined. Pour into a tall highball glass and enjoy.

3 Pink Vodka Drink Recipes, Because Who Doesn’t Like Pink Drinks!?

Pink doesn’t pull its punches—it’s a powerful hue that makes a statement wherever you see it, whether that’s on a pair of hot pink stilettos or poured into a curvaceous cocktail glass. Yes, pink is a particularly delicious shade for cocktails. Plus, it’s just plain pretty, and who doesn’t love a pretty drink?

Here are some frozen spins on fun and creative pink-hued cocktails recipes using vodka ice pops for when you can’t help but think pink.

Pink cocktail

#1 Frozen Cosmopolitan

We might as well start with the icon. Since at least the 1990s, the Cosmopolitan has been one of the most famous martini variations for its sweet and pink twist on the cocktail. To get started, all you need are a little whimsy and the following ingredients:

Ingredients:

Here’s how to mix this all-star of pink vodka drinks all together:

  1. In a martini shaker, mix the vodka, SLIQ Spirited Ice frozen cocktail pop, Cointreau, and lime juice. If necessary, you can use a spoon to help the mixing along.
  2. Serve your frozen Cosmos in chilled martini glasses. A lime wedge makes for a classic garnish. You can also add a little flair with a grapefruit wedge or a few cranberries on a toothpick.

Quick Tip

When adding SLIQ Spirited Ice frozen cocktail pops to your cocktails, be sure not to over mix. The appeal of a frozen drink is its full, thick texture as much as its temperature, so aim for smooth but not runny when working with alcohol ice pops

#2 Pink Vodka Frozen Lemonade

If there’s any beverage, alcoholic or otherwise, that gives the Cosmo a run for its money where pink is concerned, it’s got to be pink lemonade and similar citrus vodka drinks. When you add vodka to the mix, you’ve got a satisfying pink drink for any occasion, but this pink lemonade cocktail is especially perfect for a baby shower.

For our frozen version of Pink Vodka Lemonade, you’ll need:

The steps to this classic pink drink are as easy as 1, 2, and 3:

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a martini shaker or blender.
  2. Once well mixed, pour into a glass.
  3. Garnish the cocktail with fresh lemon wheels.

Quick Tip

You can bump up this drink’s flavor rating without sacrificing its pink appeal by adding one of SLIQ’s Rum Coconut & Lime Daiquiri pops—it’s a delicious way to enjoy Caribbean flavor in a glass.

#3 Frozen Salty Dog

A traditional Salty Dog is made with gin and served straight up. But we’re mixing things up and taking this pink pup to a whole new level with a frozen twist that substitutes vodka for gin. Pro Tip: this one doubles as a delicious Valentine cocktail recipe

Start by gathering your ingredients. For this recipe, you’ll need:

To make one of our favorite pink cocktails with vodka, follow these steps:

  1. Ready your garnish. The garnish might be the last thing you add to your cocktail, but sometimes it’s a good place to start preparing. On a small plate, mix the kosher salt and grapefruit zest. For now, set it aside.
  2. Use a martini shaker or blender to combine the vodka, SLIQ Spirited Ice frozen cocktail pop, and grapefruit juice.
  3. Wet the rim of a highball glass and twirl it through the salt-zest mixture. Then, pour your cocktail. Top it off with a slice of grapefruit to complete the outfit and sip away.

Quick Tip

In the mood for something other than vodka? Since we’re already making substitutions with this recipe, try using SLIQ’s Agave Spirit Strawberry Margarita pop instead. Just make sure you also switch out the vodka for tequila!

The Best Vodka Slushies for Year-Round Enjoyment

There’s something magical about a slushie. Existing in a zone somewhere between liquid and solid, slushies manage to be both refreshing and sultry. And when you add alcohol to the list of ingredients?

Did somebody say—hello, vodka slushie goodness.

Just because it’s getting colder and the days are getting shorter doesn’t mean we also have to give up slushies. Read on for how to make a slushie with a blender and alcoholic ice pops! We promise these year-round vodka slush recipes will satisfy your taste buds from January through December!

Side Note: If you prefer tequila or mezcal cocktails, head over to our recipe guide on frozen tequila drinks

Vodka slushie

Frozen Vodka Lemonade

It’s the one, the only, the king of vodka slush drinks: the frozen vodka lemonade.

Classic, satisfying, and simple to create, the frozen vodka lemonade is always popular when it comes to vodka slushies. And, while we may generally associate it as a summer cocktail, it’s easy to adapt into a year-round treat.

The key to making it seasonal is to mix up the complimentary fruit.

So let’s start with a fruit that will let you create a wonderfully sweet, tart slushie with an eye-catching pink color.

A cool new way to get your buzz on. Get SLIQ now!

Strawberry Lemonade Vodka Slushie

Before any culinary experts jump in, yes, strawberry season is technically late spring or early fall. But these days, you can get strawberries any time of year that perfectly complement the tartness of the lemonade to make a drink that is as delicious in January as it is in June.

Ingredients

Let’s start with what you’ll need:

  • 5 or 6 fresh strawberries
  • ½ to 1 cup lemonade
  • Simple syrup (to taste)
  • 1 ½ ounces vodka
  • 2 SLIQ Spirited Ice Vodka Lemonade Pops
  • Extra ice cubes (optional)
  • Garnish: strawberries and lemons

Now, grab your blender.

Making the Drink

We told you this one was easy to make. We weren’t lying:

  • Combine all ingredients except garnishes in a blender
  • Blend
  • Pour into a glass
  • Garnish

That’s it. You can adjust the exact proportions to suit your taste, but that’s all you need to start enjoying the deliciousness.

Raspberry Lemonade Slushie

Not a huge lemon fan? No problem. To lessen the tartness of the lemon juice flavor and enhance the berry profile, simply substitute out your SLIQ Vodka Lemonade Pops for our Blue Raspberry flavor. You can also substitute fresh raspberries for strawberries.

Raspberry Lemonade Slushie

In addition to being a berry flavor spin, this variation will also change the color of your drink, shifting it from bright pink into a more purple color from the addition of the blue pops.

Greyhound Slushie

We told you one way to make a drink a year-round hit is to move out summer fruit and move in other kinds that are easier to find in any season. Well, no need to substitute anything when you start with a fruit already well suited for the winter months.

Grapefruit’s natural season is the winter and its slightly more bitter profile makes it a great fit for someone who likes drinks with a little more bite to them.

Enter the Greyhound Slushie.

Ingredients

A Greyhound is another simple drink normally consisting of only two ingredients: vodka and grapefruit juice. That makes it easy to make into a slushie.

  • 1 1/2 ounces vodka
  • Grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed
  • 2 SLIQ Spirited Ice Vodka Cranberry & Grapefruit Pops
  • Garnish: lime wheel

Back to the blender we go.

Making the Drink

If you followed the instructions for the frozen lemonade, these may look familiar:

  • Combine all ingredients except garnishes in a blender
  • Blend
  • Pour into your glass
  • Garnish

Couldn’t be simpler. These winter vodka cocktails go perfect with sweater weather and good company.

Variation

In a traditional Greyhound, adding a salted rim to your glass changes the name of the drink to a Salty Dog. There’s no reason you can’t put a salt rim on your slushy glass. Salty Slush Puppy, anyone?

Frozen Moscow Mule

For our final vodka slush recipe, let’s head to Moscow, where everything has to be good in winter because winter rarely ends. Luckily, this drink doesn’t just fit in winter—it’s delicious any time of the year.

Making of Frozen Moscow Mule

Ingredients

We’ve started with sweet, moved to bitter, now let’s add a little spice. The spice of the ginger beer tempers the tartness of the citrus in this spin on a classic.1

  • 2 SLIQ Spirited Ice Vodka Lemonade Pops
  • 2 cups ginger beer
  • 2 oz. vodka
  • 1 oz. lime juice
  • 1 copper mug (optional, but definitely the best way to keep it chilled)

Making the Drink

You know the drill by now.

  • Combine all ingredients except the mug in a blender
  • Blend
  • Pour into the mug

There you have it. Three ways to keep enjoying your slushies year-round with help from our alcoholic ice pops. At SLIQ, we’re about good times, and only good times. And those good times go on regardless of the date on the calendar.

So enjoy your next SLIQ vodka ice pop or slushie with a loved one and a roaring fire—or however you choose.

3 Fun, Flirty, and Frozen Tequila Drinks

After a long week, you want to kick back, relax, and enjoy some drinks with the people you love. Whether that means having friends over or spending a night with that special someone, frozen tequila drinks are a fun, even flirty, way to set the mood.

But are there any options beyond the classic frozen margarita recipe for blended tequila drinks?

Read on to learn how to make some of the best frozen tequila and mezcal cocktails with alcohol ice pops

Pink tequila cocktail

#1 Frozen Tequila Sunrise

Did you know the tequila sunrise cocktail was invented in the 1970s and popularized by none other than Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger?1

Traditionally made using only three ingredients, the drink is left unmixed so that the colors slowly bleed into each other and evoke visions of a morning sunrise on the beach. But, since frozen drinks are all about blending the ingredients with ice, how do we maintain that stunning visual effect?

Ingredients

A tequila sunrise is a rather simple drink that relies on only a few ingredients. Thus, it’s the construction that makes it special.

All recipes serve two:2

  • 2 ounces of orange juice
  • 2 ounces blanco tequila
  • 1 ounce triple sec
  • ½ tablespoon of freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 2 SLIQ Spirited Ice Agave Mango Margarita Pops
  • 2 ounces of grenadine

Step-by-Step Instructions

Since construction is so important to the visual appeal of this drink, it’s important to do everything in the correct order.

  • Add your orange juice, tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and frozen margarita pops into your blender. Now, when it comes to how to make slushies, consistency is key. Start the blender on low to get things going, then turn up the speed gradually to get to that slush consistency you want. Remember, you can always add more ice if needed.
  • Prepare your glasses by pouring one ounce of grenadine into the bottom of each.
  • Slowly add your blended drink. Pro Tip: If you add the blended drink too quickly, it will combine with the grenadine and you’ll lose the sunrise effect. You can spoon in the drink to assure this doesn’t happen.

Garnish

You worked hard to create something that will wow people with its looks, so don’t forget the finishing touches. Get some orange slices, maraschino cherries, and balled pieces of mango to complete your showstopper.

#2 Pink Frozen Margarita

Let’s be clear: there’s nothing wrong with a frozen margarita. It’s a classic for a reason. But with this pink frozen margarita recipe, you can put a spin on the classic and create something that’ll impress.

Ingredients

Don’t just grab your margarita mix. The key to a great margarita is fresh ingredients. This pink frozen strawberry margarita also adds a few other twists.

  • 3 ounces blanco tequila
  • 2 ounces triple sec
  • 2 SLIQ Spirited Ice Agave Strawberry Margarita Pops
  • 1 ounce Campari
  • 2 ounces fresh lime juice
  • 2 ounces agave

Here’s an easier drink to construct than the frozen tequila sunrise. Simply place all your ingredients into your blender and blend until you reach the desired slushiness. Then divide it up between two glasses.3

line of colorful cocktails on the balcony fence

Garnish

You have a couple of options on how to complete this with a little artistic flair.

  • Classic – You’ve already been adventurous by adding Campari and creating this spin on the margarita so if you want to go with a classic garnish, the traditional sliced lime wedge is a great, understated finish.
  • Sweet and Sexy – On the other hand, you’ve gone this far. Why not finish things off with an added twist? A sliced, whole strawberry placed on the rim of each glass gives a sweet complement to the slight bitterness of the Campari. What’s more flirty than sweetness with a little bite to it?

#3 Frozen Bloody Maria

The best nights can sometimes flow into the best mornings. Whether you’re looking for a drink that will satisfy a morning guest or something perfect for your weekly brunch, this frozen bloody maria will start a day off right.

Ingredients

This will go over all the ingredients you need to make this from scratch, but if you’re looking for an easier option, you can always opt for the premade bloody mary mix of your choice.

  • 4 ounces blanco tequila
  • 2 SLIQ Spirited Ice Agave Classic Margarita Pops
  • 8 ounces tomato juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 dash Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 dash hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon horseradish
  • 2 pinches celery salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Kosher salt

While that’s a lot of ingredients, once you have them all you have to do is put them in the blender and blend until ready.4

Garnish

This is your show now. This tequila cocktail can take any number of garnishes including:

  • Celery
  • Jalapenos
  • Lime wedges
  • Olives
  • Bacon

Choose your favorites, combine them, or add something new if you’d like. This drink is loaded, so garnish accordingly.

Frozen Agave Spirit with SLIQ

This drink blends all of the freshest flavors of the season with our SLIQ vodka cocktail pops, elderflower liqueur, freshly-squeezed citrus, and ginger beer for bubbles on top.

To make this easy vodka cocktail recipe for your friends and family, you’ll need:

  • 1 SLIQ Spirited Ice Vodka Pop—any flavor
  • 1/2 oz Elderflower liqueur
  • 1/3 cup Freshly-squeezed clementines or blood orange juice
  • Ginger beer, to top
  • Pomegranate arils, for garnish

Holiday Mule

The holidays wouldn’t be complete without a mule modified for the cold. This holiday mule is a take on the conventional Moscow mule, updated with cranberry flavors and served in that classic copper mug—as per tradition. What sells this drink is the sugared cranberry garnish that completes our tasty SLIQ Cranberry & Grapefruit Vodka Pop combination.

You’ll need:

  • 1 SLIQ Spirited Ice Vodka Cranberry & Grapefruit Pop
  • 1/2 oz unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • 2 oz ginger beer
  • A rosemary sprig
  • Blood orange slice, for garnish
  • Sugared or fresh cranberries, for garnish

Add the SLIQ Vodka Cranberry & Grapefruit Pop, simple syrup, and cranberry juice into a cocktail shaker and mix. Pour the ingredients into a copper mug over ice and top with ginger beer. Serve with a sprig of rosemary, an orange slice, and a skewer of sugared cranberries.

No sugared cranberries at your grocery store? No problem.

To make the sugared cranberries, simmer 2 cups of sugar and 2 cups of water with low heat. Make sure you remove the sugar water before it boils. Pour the syrup mixture over 2 cups of cranberries and keep cold in the fridge overnight. Drain and let dry before rolling them in superfine sugar and enjoy.

The sugared cranberries are a sweet addition to your savory mule and any other vodka cocktail recipe you make this winter.

Easy Rum Cocktails That Everyone Should Know

Since it first rose to popularity in the United States back in the 17th century, rum has been a go-to liquor for everyone from casual consumers to professional mixologists.1 Known for its rich, sweet, and smoky flavor, rum remains an enduring liquor, one that’s appropriate anywhere from the beach to the ballroom.

It’s also the key ingredient of many classic cocktails. If you’re wondering what to mix with rum, the answer is basically anything.

So whether you’re new to the magical world of rum or one of its many long-time friends, here are some easy rum cocktails that you can make with our alcoholic ice pops.

Bartender holding rum cocktail in the air

Piña Colada

When you think of rum, one of the first cocktails that springs to mind might be the Piña Colada. The pride of Puerto Rico, the Piña Colada is a classic blended beverage nearly as iconic as rum itself. Quick, simple, and full of tropical tastiness, Piña Coladas are a can’t miss frozen rum drink with a foolproof recipe:2

Ingredients

Cocktail making doesn’t get much simpler than a Piña Colada. In a blender or cocktail shaker, combine any flavor of a SLIQ Spirited Ice Rum Pop (ideally, it has to be crushed if you’re just using a cocktail shaker), diced pineapples, pineapple juice, and coconut cream until slushy. Pour into a glass and garnish with a pineapple wedge for a truly classic feel. Out of all the frozen rum drinks you can experiment with, you can do no wrong with this one.

Dark ‘n’ Stormy

This classic rum cocktail might have gotten its start on the high seas,3 but nowadays, this dark, cloudy drink is one of the most recognizable rum cocktails in existence. Refreshing and easy to make, it’s earned its place at the top of any list of easy rum drinks.

Ingredients

In a blender, mix your SLIQ Spirited Ice Rum Pop flavor of choice with lime juice and ginger beer until slushie. Pour into a highball glass and garnish with a lime wedge.

Classic Daiquiri

The daiquiri is a classic cocktail that’s also surprisingly adaptable. Whether you take yours frozen or on the rocks, flavored with strawberry, banana, or basically any other fruit you can think of, daiquiris are a refreshing and delicious way to cool off.

Ingredients

  • 1 SLIQ Spirited Ice Rum Pop (any flavor)
  • ½ cup lime juice
  • ¼ cup simple syrup
  • 2 cups frozen strawberries (or fruit of choice)5

Combine all the ingredients in a blender and mix until slushy. Pour into a glass and garnish with a lime wedge or your fruit of choice.

SLIQ’s rum daiquiri ice pops, available in the three flavors of Strawberry, Pineapple, and Coconut & Lime, are guaranteed to take your daiquiri game to the next level.

Mojito

Mojito cocktail in a bur on a rustic table

The mojito is a simple rum cocktail that originated in Cuba and became a popular and iconic drink in its own right.6 A staple of summer gatherings everywhere and a favorite drink of none other than Ernest Hemingway, mojitos combine the fresh taste of mint and lime with the sugary sweetness of rum for a truly unforgettable cocktail. Here’s how to craft the perfect frozen mojito.7

Ingredients

Combine the rum pop, syrup, fresh lime juice (if not lime, lemon juice can be a substitute), and fresh mint leaves in a blender and mix until slushy. 4 Festive Fall Tequila Cocktails

From harvest parties to hayrides to backyard bonfires, fall is one of the most festive seasons. And now that it has officially arrived, you might be thinking about ways to get into the autumnal spirit.

Luckily, along with all the falling leaves and pumpkin patches, the season also comes with a plethora of fall cocktail recipes that match that festive energy. What better way to start feeling those great fall vibes than by enjoying a classic autumn cocktail?

For tequila lovers looking for fun fall drinks with their favorite liquor, here are some classic fall tequila cocktails with a frozen twist. Plus, all of these recipes include our delicious alcohol ice pops!

Orange cocktail

Frozen Apple Cider Margarita

Perhaps one of the most classic tequila cocktails is the margarita. What makes the margarita a popular drink is its flexibility, which means you can make any kind of margarita all year round. If nothing says fall like the sweet, spicy flavors of apple cider, then nothing says tequila like the smokey chill of a frozen margarita. And there’s no better way to get into the autumn season than by combining those forces into a delicious frozen apple cider margarita.

This spin on the classic margarita requires minimal work and just a few ingredients. Start by mixing a small amount of ground cinnamon, ginger, and salt on a small plate. Then, use a lime wedge to wet the rim of your glass before tipping it upside down and coating the rim with the cinnamon-ginger-salt mixture.

Next, in a blender, combine:

Blend until slushy, pour into a glass garnished with a cinnamon stick, stick in a sliced apple for good measure, and the next thing you know, you’ve got the perfect fall cocktail.

Frozen Pumpkin Pie Margarita

Margarita Cocktail with Pumpkin Pie Spices and Whipped Cream on wooden table with autumn decor

Pumpkin pie is an iconic fixture of fall festivities of all kinds, from Thanksgiving dinner with family to cozy nights in front of the fire after a day of raking leaves. It’s also a surprisingly excellent margarita ingredient.

Here’s how you can capture the fun fall vibes of the pumpkin patch with your very own frozen pumpkin pie margarita.1

Ingredients

  • 1 SLIQ Spirited Ice Agave Pop (any flavor)
  • 2 ounces orange juice
  • 1.5 ounces pumpkin pureé
  • 1 ounce lemon juice
  • 1 ounce honey pumpkin pie syrup

You’ll want to start by making the honey pumpkin pie syrup because it will need to cool before you can use it. To do so, mix two tablespoons of a pumpkin pie spice blend with one cup of water and one cup of honey in a small pot over high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, whisking steadily, then remove from heat.

When the syrup has cooled, mix it in a blender with the ice pop, orange juice, pumpkin pureé, and lemon juice until slushy. Pour into a glass. Top the margarita with a dash of the spice blend and garnish with toasted pumpkin seeds for an especially autumnal twist.

This is the sign you were looking for! Try SLIQ now!

Frozen Cranberry Cooler

Looking for something a little sweeter to sip on? This tequila cocktail recipe for frozen cranberry coolers is the perfect way to enjoy the tart sweetness of one of the season’s most popular fruits. It requires only a few ingredients and a couple of minutes, so making it as simple as it is delicious.2

All you do is blend one SLIQ Spirited Ice Agave margarita ice pop of any flavor with three ounces of cranberry juice and two ounces of club soda, and pour. Garnish with lime wedges or dried cranberries speared on a toothpick, and you’re all set to enjoy a cocktail as crisp as fall itself.

Frozen Mexican Negroni

Negronis are traditionally made with gin, but clever mixologists have been substituting tequila and mezcal in their recipes practically since the drink first arrived in the United States, in what’s known as a Mexican Negroni.3 And when it comes to unique cocktails and fall drinks, you can’t do better than the rich wine and fruit flavors of a Negroni mixed with its bitter undertones.

Here are the three ingredients you need to make your own frozen Mexican Negroni:

Simply mix the ingredients together in a blender until slushy. Pour into a glass and garnish with an orange peel. We guarantee this mezcal cocktail along with the other frozen tequila drinks mentioned will get you in the fall mood!

Tequila Trivia

Did you know that the primary ingredient of tequila is agave? Agave is a desert plant mostly found in southern America, and it’s the agave nectar that tequila is made from. Another interesting fact about this hard liquor is it is classified into five categories. The mildest and purest form is Blanco tequila because the agave nectar is merely distilled, not aged. The next category is Joven tequila. In terms of alcohol by volume (ABV), joven tequila is equal to blanco. What separates the two is that Joven is infused with other flavors. The third type is Reposado tequila, which is aged in oak barrels for two months. The Reposado tequila is ideal for margaritas, such as apple cider margarita and coconut margarita. The fourth type is Añejo tequila, which is aged for as long as three years. Because of how strong it is, the Añejo tequila is ideally drunk straight. Last is the extra Añejo tequila, which is the strongest kind because it is aged more than three years.

Man's hand holding smoking red cocktail

It’s that time of year again. You’ve got your costume picked out. You’ve carved the pumpkins. Now, it’s time to go trick-or-treating for your adult version of “candy”—in other words, it’s time for some delicious Halloween party alcoholic drinks.

Whether you’re throwing an epic Halloween party, having a small get-together with friends, or spending a quiet night in, these ideas for Halloween drinks for adults will be just what you need to get in the spirit (pun intended).

Whether you choose to wear a costume while enjoying them is totally up to you.

A cool new way to get your buzz on. Get SLIQ now!

#1 Graveyard Smash

When making a Halloween cocktail, one thing to remember is not to let the theme overwhelm the goal: the drinks need to taste good.

With that in mind, let’s start by putting a spooky spin on a classic.

The smash cocktail has been around since the 1800s and has several varieties.1 For our version, we’ll be using vodka as our base spirit and raspberries to give the drink a blood-red color.

First, assemble your ingredients:2

  • 1-1/2 ounces vodka
  • 1 or 2 SLIQ Spirited Ice Vodka Lemonade Pops
  • ½ ounce lemon juice
  • ½ ounce simple syrup
  • 6 fresh raspberries
  • 6 fresh mint leaves
  • Seltzer water

Then, do your very own version of the monster mash to assemble the cocktail:

  • Crush your alcohol ice pops – A smash is typically served over crushed ice. To crush, simply place your pops in your cocktail shaker, grab your muddler, and get those forearms working. Once you’ve broken up the ice, scoop it into a rocks glass.
  • Prepare the cocktail – Put your raspberries, mint, lemon juice, and simple syrup into the same shaker and muddle again. Once your fruit is muddled, it’s time to add some extra vodka. Once it’s in the shaker, add some more ice, and shake it up.
  • Strain and enjoy – Strain the drink into your waiting rocks glass, top with seltzer, then add a mint sprig to garnish.

Easy Variations

Drink a bit too tart? Switch to any of these vodka ice pops, namely SLIQ Blue Raspberry, to subtly amp up the drink’s berry profile. Either way, when you take a sip of this drink, you’ll surely think it is one of the best vodka cocktails

#2 Black Magic Margarita

Not a vodka person? Not a problem. This spin on the margarita is delicious and has a dark color that will make it a hit during your Halloween celebration. It certainly fits the bill for a spooky Halloween cocktail.

Remember the witch’s chant double, double, toil, and trouble? The drink provides just that with a delicious SLIQ Margarita ice pop and extra tequila. Gather the following:

  • 2 ounces silver tequila
  • 1ounce triple sec
  • ½ ounce lime juice
  • 1 SLIQ Spirited Ice Agave Classic Margarita Pop
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring
  • Green food coloring3

Then, it’s time to brew:

  • Make your own witch’s potion – Combine your tequila, triple sec, and lime juice in a shaker. Add ice (but not your SLIQ pop). Shake. Strain into a glass.
  • Add some color – Time to show off your artistic skill. Slowly add the food coloring until you create a color that brings to mind bubbling cauldrons and Frankenstein’s monster.
  • Cool it down – Once you’ve achieved the perfect color, it’s time to add your SLIQ Spirited Ice pop as a floater. This will help keep the drink cool and slowly replenish it as the pop melts (win, win).

Easy Variation

This recipe is for one drink, but can easily be scaled up for a party. Simply multiply the amounts. Just be sure you have plenty of pops ready to put in all those drinks.

#3 Zombie

Rum brings to mind tiki bars, sandy beaches, and luaus—but how about Halloween? There happens to be a classic rum drink with the perfect name for the occasion. Enter the Zombie.

This Halloween-ready twist includes:2

  • 1 ounce white rum
  • 1 ounce spiced rum
  • 1 ounce dark rum
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 1 ounce pineapple juice
  • 1 ounce passion fruit syrup
  • 3 dashes orange bitters
  • ½ ounce grenadine
  • 1 SLIQ Spirited Ice Rum Pineapple Daiquiri Pop

Okay, so that’s a lot of ingredients. Thankfully, once you have gathered them all, things get easier:

  • Shake it up – Put everything except the grenadine into your shaker and shake. Once done, pour into a large glass.
  • Down here, we all float – In our case, only the grenadine will float. Put an overturned spoon above your drink and slowly pour the grenadine over the back of the spoon. This should give you a nice, red float on top.

Other Halloween Essentials

Not all Halloween guests are adventurous enough to try these unique cocktails. Better stock up on other alcoholic drinks, such as black vodka, martini, gin, ginger ale, ginger beer, apple cider, tequila, rum, etc., to cater to their palate. And if there are kids around, also prepare a virgin Halloween punch that the little ones can enjoy (other substitutes are kid-friendly cider, cranberry juice, orange juice, pineapple juice, pumpkin juice, and pomegranate juice). Whatever drink you serve, stick with the spooky cocktail theme by putting some in either syringes or fake-IV bags. And If you can, place some treats on the side to keep the tiny tots preoccupied, such as candy corn, Halloween sugar cookies, candied apples, ice cream, etc.

Impress your Halloween guests not just with your drink selection but also with the overall ambiance. Make your place more spooky with some artificial fog. All you need is some dry ice and a container full of hot water. Turn your serving table into a graveyard with some crushed chocolate cake, gummy worms, and some fake headstones. Of course, don’t forget to carve out your pumpkin to a jack-o’-lantern to really complete the set-up.

Add SLIQ to your Halloween Celebration

Hopefully, these Halloween drinks for adults give you some ideas to enjoy your personal favorite spirit with the help of SLIQ’s alcoholic ice pops

Remember, SLIQ Spirited Ice is for good times only, so get creative, get spooky, and have a good time while you create your adult Halloween candy. Enjoy!

When summer turns to fall, you can’t help but notice. The leaves change colors, the temperatures cool, and the sun sets earlier and earlier. Soon, you’re swapping out your swimsuits and shorts for long pants and jackets.

But what isn’t likely to change with the seasons is your love of frozen vodka beverages. Luckily, you don’t have to say goodbye to summer and the frozen treats you love. All it takes is a blender and a little ingenuity to take those yummy vodka cocktails straight from the pool to the hearth.

So slip into something warm, and let’s get festive with these fantastic frozen fall cocktails with vodka.

Different seasonal alcohol cocktails - mulled wine, glogg, grog, eggnog, ginger ale, hot buttered rum, punch, apple cider, sangria, white background

#1 Frozen Cranberry Grapefruit Apple Cider Mule

The iconic Moscow Mule is known for two things—its sweet, spicy flavor and the kitschy copper mugs true Mules are always served in.

Now, this classic vodka cocktail gets a frozen makeover for fall in this quick and simple recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 SLIQ Spirited Ice Cranberry & Grapefruit Vodka hard freezer pop
  • 2 oz. apple cider
  • Ginger beer
  • Lime wedge
  • Cinnamon

This cocktail recipe is so easy you’ll wish you thought of it. In a blender with ice, mix the freezer pop, apple cider, and ginger beer, topping it off with fresh-squeezed lime juice from the lime wedge (you can substitute this with lemon). Blend until smooth and pour into chilled glasses—those classic copper mugs, if you have them handy. If you want a stronger version of this drink, substitute or use a portion of hard apple cider.

Finishing with a dash of cinnamon adds an extra-festive touch and really complements the rich, spicy flavor of the ginger.1

#2 Apple Cider Lemonade Slushie

Few fall themed cocktails announce that autumn has arrived quite as emphatically as apple cider. Here’s how you can transform this staple of apple orchards and harvest parties into your go-to frozen autumn cocktail.

This twist on a classic Bellini takes just a few ingredients and a couple of minutes but packs a festive punch.2 Here’s what you’ll need:

Ingredients

  • 1 SLIQ Spirited Ice Lemonade Vodka hard freezer pop
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 2 cups Prosecco
  • Ice

Mix the hard freezer pop, apple cider, prosecco, and ice until smooth using a blender. If the ice is already crushed, combine everything in a cocktail shaker and shake until well combined. Pour into glasses and garnish with a stick of cinnamon to really tap into those cool fall vibes.

#3 Spiced Pear & Cranberry Frozen Martini

Looking to spice up a fall evening with something seasonal? This Spiced Pear & Cranberry Frozen Martini is a perfect way to get autumn flavor in an icy beverage with not one but two of the season’s best fruits.3

As one of the seminal fruits of fall, pears ripen just in time for all your autumnal get-togethers, from Halloween parties to Thanksgiving dinner. You’ll find there’s no better way to liven up the party than with this autumn cocktail.

Ingredients

  • 1 SLIQ Spirited Ice Cranberry & Grapefruit Vodka hard freezer pop
  • ½ pear, diced
  • ¼ oz. simple syrup (or maple syrup if you don’t have time to make simple syrup)
  • 1 oz. vanilla liqueur

Mix the hard freezer pop, diced pear, simple syrup, and vanilla liqueur in a blender or cocktail shaker with ice until smooth. Serve ice cold in classic martini glasses with a sprinkle of nutmeg or cinnamon to garnish.

If you’re looking for extra fall spiciness in every sip, you can rim the martini glasses with cinnamon or a cinnamon and sugar mix. Make the drink look fancy by garnishing with a cinnamon stick.

#4 Frozen Rosé Collins

Although its partner drink, the Tom Collins, enjoys most of the publicity, a Rosé Collins is a surprisingly delicious cocktail in its own right.

A Rosé Collins uses rosé vermouth, which is infused with a distinct blend of berries, spices, and herbs that give it a light peppery taste, making it a wonderful fall option. Mixing in one of SLIQ’s three flavors of Spirited Ice Vodka hard freezer pops—Cranberry & Grapefruit, Blue Raspberry, or classic Lemonade—is a quick and easy way to elevate this simple drink.

Ingredients

  • 1 SLIQ Spirited Ice Vodka-Infused hard freezer pop, in the flavor of your choice
  • 1.5 oz. rosé vermouth (if you don’t have any, you can substitute this with hard cider)
  • 0.75 oz. lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz. simple syrup

Once you’ve gathered your ingredients, all that’s left to do is put them all together in a blender and hit mix. Once the drink is blended, pour the mixture into glasses and serve. Garnish with an orange peel or, better yet, with fresh cranberries for an ultra-fall flavor.4

A cool new way to get your buzz on. Get SLIQ now!

#5 Vodka Pumpkin Smash

No other fruit embodies fall flavor than pumpkin. Any Thanksgiving meal would not be complete without pumpkin pie. If you really want to embrace the pumpkin theme, you can do no wrong serving this cocktail.

Ingredients:

  • 1 SLIQ Spirited Ice Lemonade Vodka hard freezer pop
  • 1 oz pumpkin spice syrup
  • 4 oz soda water
  • Lemon Wedges

To make the syrup, mix pumpkin puree, water, sugar, and pumpkin pie spice in a sauce pan and boil over medium to high heat. Remember to stir constantly to properly mix and dissolve. Remove from heat and rest for 15 minutes once the syrup becomes smooth. Strain the syrup to get rid of the plumps. Finally, combine the pumpkin spice syrup, freezer pop, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker until properly combined. Pour in cocktail glasses and decorate with lemon wedges or orange peel.

All of these drinks prove how versatile vodka really is. But just as fascinating as the drinks you can make with vodka is its creation. If you’re wondering what is vodka made of, you’d be surprised by just how simple the ingredients are, and prove it is greater than the sum of its parts.

SLIQ: Premium Hard Freezer Pops

When summer ends, and the party moves indoors, these scrumptious, frozen fall cocktails mean you get to take the vodka with you.

Then again, it can be nice to skip the fuss and reach for something ready when you are. That’s where SLIQ’s hard alcoholic ice pops come in.

Whether you’re entertaining guests or enjoying a relaxing night in, SLIQ’s Spirited Ice vodka ice pops are a premium, frozen alcoholic beverage that requires almost zero work. All you have to do is open and enjoy.

Available in Lemonade, Blue Raspberry, and Cranberry & Grapefruit flavors, or enjoy our equally delicious agave spirit margarita ice pops and rum ice pop options.

5 Fun Cocktails Made With Agave Spirits

Tequila and mezcal are already the base for so many of our favorite cocktails. How can you get any more fun than that? Well, by turning a simple sipping cocktail recipe into a phenomenal frozen treat, for starters—with nothing but a blender and a little creativity.

These classic tequila cocktails and mezcal slushies are drinks best served cold.

So pull out your blender, stock up your freezer with our alcohol ice pops, and let’s get to mixing these frozen tequila drinks—the good times are sure to follow closely behind.

#1 Frozen Hawaiian Margarita

Whether you’re on the beach in Maui soaking up the sun or in your kitchen in Mississippi just looking for a little fun, this tropical treat is sure to delight. You don’t even have to get off your couch to feel transported by this beverage—well, aside from those brief moments of prep in the kitchen.

This one-serving recipe is quick and easy:1

  1.  Combine the primary ingredients in a blender until smooth:
  1. Pour the thick frozen beverage into a chilled margarita glass.
  2. Adorn with a whole strawberry or pineapple wedge—or both!

While you really can’t go wrong with a margarita of any kind, our frozen margarita take on such a classic drink is a great way to switch things up. The fruity flavors of the strawberry and pineapple combine to create a uniquely tasty treat.

#2 Blueberry-Thyme Tequila Smash

For a slightly more sophisticated approach to flavor mixing, this fruit-and-herb crossover will tickle your tastebuds in ways you weren’t expecting. Straight off the seasonal menu at the hip local bar, you’ll be able to impress friends and family with this elevated frozen cocktail.

This recipe yields four drinks, making it even easier to spread the good cheer around:2

  1. Combine these ingredients in a saucepan and boil them on high:
  • 1 package of blueberries (about 6 ounces)
  • ¾ cup of water
  • ¾ cup of sugar
  • 2 sprigs of thyme
  1. After it reaches a boil, reduce the heat to a medium-low for about 10 minutes. Let it simmer until the sugar has dissolved and the berries begin to explode. Crush any still-intact berries.
  2. Remove the thyme sprigs and wait until the syrup has cooled to room temperature.
  3. In a blender, combine the following ingredients:
  1. Pour the frozen drink into the four glasses.
  2. Garnish with any leftover thyme sprigs, blueberries, and lemon wedges.

#3 Frozen Mezcal Paloma

Up next, we have a round of simple mezcal cocktails to compliment a still-underrated agave spirit. The frozen Mezcal Paloma is sweet but subtle, understatedly bright, and perfect for any Margarita-lover looking for a new beau.

This two-serving treat can easily be doubled or tripled for a party-size pint or shared between two during a laidback evening:3

  1. In a releasable container, like a Tupperware or water bottle, combine and shake the following ingredients:
  1. Once the honey and salt are fully dissolved, put the container in the freezer for anywhere between four and 10 hours.
  2. Later, combine this mixture with ice and blend until completely uniform.
  3. Pour into two (or more!) glasses.
  4. Garnish with a lime wedge, or serve as is.

While this concoction takes a bit longer and requires you to plan ahead, the wait will be well worth it when you’re sipping your Mezcal Paloma in all its ice-cold glory. Though if you simply can’t hold out that long, you can opt to skip the first step and throw the entire ingredient list straight into the blender.

#4 Tequila Sunrise Slushie

What’s more beautiful than a sunrise on a tropical island? An easy-to-make drink that instantly transports you to that spot, without the airfare, hotel booking, or 5:00 a.m. wake-up call.

This fan-favorite tequila cocktail is surprisingly easy to make. Just follow these four steps:4

  1. At high speed, blend these ingredients:
  1. Split the blended beverage into two tall glasses.
  2. Pour one tablespoon of grenadine against the side of each glass. Wait until it sinks gently to the bottom, creating a neat two-toned look.
  3. Top each glass off with an orange slice and maraschino cherry.

#5 Frozen Siesta Cocktail

This drink name is quite the misnomer—in reality, this Siesta will get you ready to fiesta.

Whether you party all night long or call it an early evening, the recipe for our fifth and final type of agave cocktail is quite simple (though not quite simple enough to handle in your sleep5):

  1. Make simple syrup:
  • Mix ⅓ cup of warm water with ⅓ cup of sugar in a small resealable container like a mason jar or Tupperware container.
  • Shake until you’ve dissolved all the sugar.
  • Refrigerate until it’s chilled.
  1. Rim two glasses with fresh lime juice, dip in a plate of kosher salt, then leave them to chill in the freezer.
  2. Later on, combine the base ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth, about half a minute:
  1. Retrieve your chilled glasses to pour your frozen beverages into.
  2. Serve as is or with a lime wedge on top.
