Celebrate with the Best Winter Vodka Cocktails

As the seasons change and the weather cools, it’s time to break out your snow boots and embrace the coming winter. Eventually, the good times move inside as outdoor barbecues give way to holiday gatherings and long conversations under the mistletoe.

Looking for a drink to keep you warm all winter long? Vodka aficionados may feel that Screwdrivers and Cosmos don’t exactly scream seasonal coziness. The good news? There are plenty of ways to use your favorite spirit when the weather turns cold, aside from a classic hot toddy.

Speaking of spirit, get into the swing of the holiday season with frozen vodka cocktails designed with elevated flavors and innovative twists. These creations made with alcoholic ice pops are the perfect winter vodka cocktails to indulge by the warm fire and celebrate the snowfall.

The ingredients mix spectacularly with our selection of Cranberry & Grapefruit or Lemonade SLIQ vodka ice pops—made with premium seven-times distilled vodka. The full list includes:

  • 1 SLIQ Spirited Ice Vodka Pop (Cranberry & Grapefruit or Lemonade flavor)
  • 1 1/2 oz of dry red wine
  • 1/2 oz spiced pear liqueur
  • 1/4 oz lemon juice (or lime juice)
  • Topped with chilled seltzer
  • Pear fan, for garnish
  • Grated nutmeg, for garnish

Mix your SLIQ pop, red wine, pear liqueur, and lemon juice into a cocktail shaker with extra ice until you’ve achieved a smooth liquid. Pour the winter cocktail into a modern, stemless wine glass to serve. Finish it off with chilled seltzer and stir the ingredients gently.

Dress it up with some pear fans and grated nutmeg garnish for a sophisticated look, or dress it down for a quiet night with some warm blankets and a good book.

Pomegranate cocktail

Holly Jolly Winter Citrus

Here’s another festive vodka drink you can whip up yourself. The Holly Jolly takes advantage of the winter citrus season for a light drink that brings a little cheer. This drink blends all of the freshest flavors of the season with our SLIQ vodka cocktail pops, elderflower liqueur, freshly-squeezed citrus, and ginger beer for bubbles on top.

To make this easy vodka cocktail recipe for your friends and family, you’ll need:

  • 1 SLIQ Spirited Ice Vodka Pop—any flavor
  • 1/2 oz Elderflower liqueur
  • 1/3 cup Freshly-squeezed clementines or blood orange juice
  • Ginger beer, to top
  • Pomegranate arils, for garnish
  • 1 sprig of fresh thyme or mint, for garnish

To start, mix the SLIQ pop and some ice to fill a cocktail glass. Add the elderflower liqueur and citrus juice, then gently stir until the mixture is consistent throughout. Top off this winter cocktail with some ginger beer and enjoy.

For the garnish, a sprig of fresh thyme or mint and some pomegranate arils throughout are the perfect addition, with warm reds and bright greens for a wintertime aesthetic.

Holiday Mule

The holidays wouldn’t be complete without a mule modified for the cold. This holiday mule is a take on the conventional Moscow mule, updated with cranberry flavors and served in that classic copper mug—as per tradition. What sells this drink is the sugared cranberry garnish that completes our tasty SLIQ Cranberry & Grapefruit Vodka Pop combination.

You’ll need:

  • 1 SLIQ Spirited Ice Vodka Cranberry & Grapefruit Pop
  • 1/2 oz unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • 2 oz ginger beer
  • A rosemary sprig
  • Blood orange slice, for garnish
  • Sugared or fresh cranberries, for garnish

Add the SLIQ Vodka Cranberry & Grapefruit Pop, simple syrup, and cranberry juice into a cocktail shaker and mix. Pour the ingredients into a copper mug over ice and top with ginger beer. Serve with a sprig of rosemary, an orange slice, and a skewer of sugared cranberries.

No sugared cranberries at your grocery store? No problem.

To make the sugared cranberries, simmer 2 cups of sugar and 2 cups of water with low heat. Make sure you remove the sugar water before it boils. Pour the syrup mixture over 2 cups of cranberries and keep cold in the fridge overnight. Drain and let dry before rolling them in superfine sugar and enjoy.

The sugared cranberries are a sweet addition to your savory mule and any other vodka cocktail recipe you make this winter.
